Yew Tree Cottage

Yew Tree Cottage is a striking new rear and side extension to a traditional 2 storey New Forest cottage to create a great family home.

Situated in the New Forest National Park, it was once a small worker cottage on a large plot that faced many planning constraints. We managed to significantly increase the floor area with a two storey side extension and a creative triple oak gable rear extension along with an oak front porch that was respectful of the original humble cottage yet clearly contemporary and new. The idea was to open up the rear to the fantastic plot, bring the outside space in and create a genuine family hub. Large overhangs, and a combination of handmade brick, oak, slate and aluminium windows all help the building blend into its setting. The side extension is clad vertically in two widths of treated larch giving the design a contemporary yet sensitive relationship to its surroundings.
