Birch Architects is a small, friendly architectural practice with big ideas, experience and energy. We are based at the top of the New forest in the village of Redlynch and predominantly handle private residential work and developments, along with commercial and community projects across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. Our clients range from home owners, developers, builders and dreamers! We believe that everyone should have the potential to have a well designed home no matter what the budget and we pride our selves on bringing added value to everything we do and working to help you realise your ideas.

Formed in 2020 by Nick Birch, his wife Sarah is also involved in the practice and offers architectural and interior design support. We work with many trusted consultants ranging from planning consultants, structural engineers, ecologists, Conservationists, SAP assessors and builders who along with the client form a truly collaborative team approach to design.

Director and Founder of Birch Architects, Nick Birch, lives in the New Forest with his wife Sarah (who is also an architect and interior designer) and his four lively children.

Nick studied at Plymouth University for his BA Architecture (where he gained a First class degree), Bartlett UCL and completed his Diploma in architecture at Liverpool University (where he achieved a distinction in his diploma). He qualified as an architect with RIBA North West and became an RIBA Chartered Member in 2005. Nick gained experience working for renowned practices in the North West such as shedkm Architects, international practice Broadway Malyan and FCH architects in Liverpool.

After working in the North West for 15 years, he later moved to the south West in 2015 where he worked with Barclay Phillips Architects for five years before launching his own practice in 2020.

Nick and Sarah are both Chartered Architects with over 16 years’ practising in the profession and bring a portfolio of experience that ranges from luxury one-off houses, residential alterations, conservation projects, low-energy design, commercial, education/community and housing schemes. We have built up particular expertise working with listed building and in National Parks along with PD forms of development. Nick will take a lead on every project from the initial meeting through to completion and provide a hands on service.

We have a passion for creating well-designed, imaginative and exciting projects that are both environmentally and socially sustainable. We can offer creative solutions to building problems and specialise in sustainable design and the alteration and adaption of historic buildings to compliment their context. By using local materials, maintaining an environmental approach and designing and building with a trusted team we aim to make every project special.
